The writing here is restrained, and the tone emanates sustained suspension. For all its quietude, there is urgency and necessity to this portrait of a man who cannot conceive of his identity beyond a beige cubicle, even as he’s all too aware of the recycled air and winnowed light of the fate he’s come to accept.
